MedSalus woolhome stands for the highest quality, most natural and sustainable sheep's wool blankets and products in Merino quality
MedSalus Woolhome stands for the combination of medical expertise with a deep passion for the topics of “sleeping naturally”, sustainability and social responsibility. The company pursues a clear vision: to offer high-quality, natural and sustainable sheep's wool blankets and products at an affordable price while at the same time giving its employees in Morocco new and better life prospects.
MedSalus Woolhome is more than just a company - it combines quality standards with a social commitment that goes beyond the products.
Dr. Gerfried Lexer
Gründer
Dr. Gerfried Lexer was a specialist in surgery and intensive care medicine with a specialization in the treatment and prevention of colon cancer. Most recently, he worked as chief physician in several clinics. In his retirement, he is now working as an external expert for an EU project on the early detection of colon cancer. He is also the brains behind MedSalus Wool and is responsible for the company's product development.
Vfrom idea to reality
Like every good story, the story of MedSalus Wool begins with a journey. Gerfried Lexer spent the turn of the year 2015 in Morocco. He was looking for adventure, the wildness of nature and cultural diversity. But he found so much more in the desert - a project close to his heart. An economic, ecological and social business idea. A business idea that reflects Gerfried Lexer's moral values, high understanding of quality and unwavering commitment to sustainability. That combines the founders' medical background and knowledge of the importance of good sleep.
His vision: to produce the highest quality, most natural and sustainable sheep's wool blankets and products in Merino quality. Products that ensure natural sleep and that are also affordable. Products whose production and sale give people in Morocco a perspective by enabling them to enjoy a good standard of living through fair working conditions.
SOCIAL ENGAGEMENT
Not just sleep naturally and well, but sleep with a clear conscience.
Gerfried Lexer and the employees of MedSalus Woolhome in Marrakech share a close bond. “Give a person work and you give them a future.” In addition to the working conditions, which are based on Austrian standards, MedSalus Wool also has the quality of life of its employees in mind.
They are paid well above the Moroccan average and have social and health insurance. There is a 40-hour week and the rooms are air-conditioned. Circumstances that are a given in Europe. In Morocco they are not. Young unemployed people and single mothers are employed, whose children's school fees are paid by MedSalus Woolhome. A concept that can be expanded. If MedSalus Wool grows, more factories will be created in the future. In this way, MedSalus helps to counteract unemployment and difficult social conditions.
